As most East Coasters head back into the city after the holiday…

You Had Me At…Artichokes!

Now, I feel like you might be reading this title thinking, um..artichokes, what is soo special about artichokes?

Well, I felt similarly until I had Roman artichokes (or as they call them, carciofi). Slightly fried, extra crispy with tons of flavor. Even better with a splash of a light white wine!

If you can’t make it all the way to Rome for a good artichoke, my favorite place in the states is at the Houston/Hillstone restaurants that are both coasts! Artichokes are seasonal, so they sometimes don’t have them on the menu, but always worth an ask 🙂

You Had Me At…Flower Picking

When I am back in Philadelphia, one of my favorite places to go in the summer is Maple Acres. I found out about Maple Acres after complimenting my mother’s beautiful floral arrangement on our dining room table. She said that she had hand picked the bouquet at a little farm in Plymouth, PA. The next day we checked it out together.

You Had Me At…Tacos

People go back and forth about the differences between the east and west coasts. For me, the most noticeable difference is the Mexican food. Growing up in California, I am quite picky about my Mexican food. It was not until I finally tried Los Tacos No. 1 in New York’s Chelsea Market that I thought my tacos would be a plane flight away.  The tacos here are definitely worth making your way amongst the crowds in the Chelsea Market.

You Had Me At…Cabana

Summertime and the livin’ is easy (….well, when you are using your paid time off days…)!

I would do anything to transport myself back to the Lido in Venice right now–sitting in a beach cabana and sipping a Campari soda. A trip to the Excelsior Hotel on the island is necessary. If you’re in need a beach vacation, I highly recommend!

You Had Me At… Breakfast Pizza

Whenever I go back to San Francisco, without fail, my first stop is Rose’s Cafe. Now there are a lot of reasons I love Rose’s. When I walk in, not only do I get a sense of nostalgia as it was “our family spot,” but also salivate at the smell of fresh roasted coffee and wood burning oven.

This is the real reason I keep going back… Rose’s Breakfast Pizza (eggs scrambled, not fried.)
